Fire Chief Jeff Willis

Jeff Willis began working for the Big Bear City Fire Department in 1984 as a Fire Fighter. During this 24-year period he has held the positions of Fire Fighter, Engineer, Captain, Division Chief, Assistant Chief, and in January 2008 become the youngest Fire Chief for Big Bear City Fire Department. He has responded to a number of type one and two incidents throughout the State of California. Through each of these incidents he has gained valuable knowledge necessary to successfully perform in the position of Division/Group Supervisor. Chief Willis is also a qualified Strike Team Leader.

Chief Willis is a natural leader with vision and knowledge to carry the Big Bear City Fire Department into the future. Current projects include building a historical foundation to allow young fire fighters the education of Big Bear City Fire Departments roots; hosting community meetings to review the 2007 Master Plan document; create professional and current Standard Operating Guidelines; enhance training for fire crews; and much more! Chief Willis wants to maintain the current excellent customer service that the Big Bear City Fire Department has provided to the community over the years. He has an open door policy and invites anyone to discuss current issues, questions, etc.

"I am proud to be the Fire Chief of Big Bear City Fire Department and appreciate everyone's continued support. I look forward to many years of a successful fire agency that is both professional and friendly."
